How calculated

Email ratio: answered email inquiries across the consular service divided by the same year’s citizenship grant applications. Institutional coverage differs; this measures neither citizenship correspondence nor staff effort, productivity or processing time. The line uses one zero-based ratio scale. Raw counts and the takeaway use 2023–2025; a missing or zero application denominator has no ratio.

Service mix: proof-of-citizenship certificate/confirmation requests + grant applications + release requests must equal the published citizenship-service total. Proof of citizenship is separate from USZZ Slovak-abroad certificates. Counts do not measure staff time.

Office change: 2025 minus 2024 for offices observed in both years. Remaining offices combined is the change between each annual total minus those comparable offices. Missing office figures are never zero. Office location does not identify applicant residence or explain why counts changed.

MOI’s “Prijaté žiadosti o vydanie cestovného pasu” counts passport applications received. The ZÚ SR row is one consular aggregate, not passports issued or a breakdown by office. It does not identify newly naturalized applicants.

Monthly figures are published in annual reports. All 12 months must reconcile to the published annual total. Missing cells are not zero. Reports do not enumerate participating missions or document coverage changes; this is not a documented fixed panel.

Automatic checks discover annual releases and validate the original PDF table. Source hashes and immutable captures preserve evidence; a failed check retains the last validated data. Check and capture dates are not publication dates; the reports provide no publication date.

Coverage and methodology

Eurostat migr_pop1ctz: persons recorded as Slovak citizens on 1 January, all ages and sexes. Reporting countries supply annual population figures; automatic retrieval checks may return unchanged figures.

Coverage varies by year. Slovakia and country aggregates are excluded. Missing figures are unknown, not zero; no worldwide or EU total is inferred. Source status flags remain attached to each observation.

For multiple citizenships, reporting-country citizenship takes priority. These figures do not include every dual national and do not measure ancestry, eligibility or application demand.

Validated source captures retain the original JSON and its SHA-256 hash. Failed refreshes keep the last validated capture; offline validation does not count as a successful live check. Reference dates, publisher updates and retrieval dates remain separate.
